The focus of Spanish Vocabulary With Pictures is exactly that, vocabulary. The app is divided into categories and each category contains a selection of vocabulary. The vast majority of the vocabulary are single words with a few sentences or phrases sprinkled in.
The free version of the app contains 12 categories. An in-app purchase unlocks an additional 8 categories. The categories have anywhere from 20 to 60 words so the free version has approximately 470 words.
The quizzes are based off of the vocabulary and are a multiple choice format. You press a button to listen and then select the corresponding answer. You can't move on to the next question until you answer correctly.
There are very few full sentences in the app.
There are no grammar topics in the app.
There is no verb conjugation in any tense or mood in the app.
We are looking for Spanish apps that are best suited for students. They need to be rich in Spanish language content.
Spanish Content Score: 10/50
An app also needs to be attractive and function well in order to encourage its use and bring students back to app time and time again. The app should be a Windows 10 universal app that works across Windows 10 devices and screen sizes. Navigation should be intuitive and easy. Paid apps should have a free trial.
This app is a Windows 8 app which works on Windows 10.
This app does not resize properly. The main page becomes useless at around 950 pixels and the page title bleeds out instead of resizing.
There is no back button which should be standard. There is however an undescriptive button which takes you to the main screen. Due to the simplicity of the app however navigation is not an issue but it could be improved.
We do not like the design of the app. The categories have a flower type design behind each icon. These are hard on the eyes and actually make you want to look away from the app.
The buttons in the app itself should use some iconography. For example a sound icon or play button to indicate audio and a chevron or an arrow for navigation within a category or quiz.
The app is free with an in-app purchase to unlock additional categories

The app does contain a fair amount of vocabulary and with a major redesign it might be worth your time if you are looking only at picking up some basic vocabulary but until then we have to advise you to look elsewhere.
